Pour réussir un poulet

Finalist 2021 – Podcast category – Fiction and experimental

A lively and funny work of fiction, Pour réussir un poulet is a reinvention of the eponymous play by Transistor Media in collaboration with Théâtre de la Manufacture, for broadcaster La fabrique culturelle. Like the play itself, this four-episode podcast follows the sad but hilarious adventures of a duo who, through no fault of their own, find themselves caught up in a spiral of increasingly shady adventures.

Dans l’eau chaude

Winner 2022 – Podcast category – Fiction and experimental

Dans l’eau chaude is a fiction/documentary production written by author Blanche Gionet-Lavigne and produced by Parabole, Théâtre Premier acte and Studio CKRL 89. In five episodes, we take a behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant business through a series of nightmarish services actually experienced by Quebec chefs. Reinterpreted by actors, their terrible stories, sometimes funny, sometimes very hard, offer us a fresh look at the often thankless realities of the kitchen and service professions.

Winner 2022 – Podcast category – Social issue

Produced by Babel Films and broadcast by Télé-Québec, the podcast Devenir Margot is an intimate and touching incursion into the reality of dementia and how it can affect those around them. In a documentary form favoring testimonials and refictionalized passages for a better understanding of the narrative thread, Devenir Margot follows screenwriter Marika Lhoumeau, whose dementia-stricken father starts calling her Margot one day, for no specific reason. Over the course of the podcast’s six episodes, we learn about the challenges of caregiving through her journey.

Le village – Meurtres, combats et fiertés

Finalist 2023 – Podcast category – Social issue

Le village – Meurtres, combats et fiertés plunges us into a dramatic episode in the history of Montreal’s gay village: the murders of 17 gay men in the 90s. While the police were slow to act, this wave of murders was to be one of the triggers for a fight for the liberation of the LGTBQ+ communities. Produced by Radio-Canada, this seven-episode documentary, hosted by Marie-Ève Tremblay, combines narration, archival footage and testimonials to explore both the story of the murders and, more broadly, the context of police violence, homophobia and the rise of AIDS undermining LGBTQ+ communities. A sensitive and important podcast.
