Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin

Artist and filmmaker Chélanie Beaudin-Quintin (she/her) creates short films, video installations, and immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences. Working at the intersection of fiction, screendance, and documentary, her practice explores notions of collectivity, exchange, and coexistence through sensory, embodied, and often non-discursive narratives. Her work examines how bodies are transformed through encounters with others, through the spaces they move through, and by the forces that act upon them. Through research-creation, she investigates our relationship to public space, addressing issues such as protest, urban insecurity, and the ways our movements are shaped by our environment. She also explores relational dynamics between humans and non-humans, particularly through animism and human-robot relationships.

Her works have been presented in Canada and internationally. The virtual reality experience Bodies of Water, created with choreographer Caroline Laurin-Beaucage, had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and was a finalist for the NUMIX Awards. Her dance film Going on Strike has won two awards and is currently continuing its international festival tour. Her projects take form through collaboration with numerous artists and technicians, whose perspectives and expertise contribute to their development and realization.
